- "The Schwaadklub"

Daä Schwaadklub

every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. in the restaurent “Zur Post” at Biesfeld

Nemm den Wäch üvver de Meß, dann wees de, wat se es!
(Take the path with your maid over the dung heap, then you'll know, if she loves you!

The meaning of this saying:
If a man is interested in a woman but is not sure whether she is the right one, then he should do something unpleasant with her to determine from her behavior whether she will stand by him even in bad times.

This could have been mentioned at one of our dialect meetings to make an old saying understandable.

"Däa Schwaadklub"

Here everyone is welcome to hear and learn our typical "Bergisch dialect" .

Guests are warmly welcome to all events.

Who would like to "metzekallen" ("chat in dialect") at the regulars' table? There is certainly still a lot that we can talk about. Just come there! Maybe you also have a text article up your sleeve. You would like to see some examples? Here we are:

  • Watt hammer? En schön ahl Kneip medden in Beesfeil
  • Watt bruchen mer? Noch einije Lück die metkallen
  • Watt krieje mer? En Stöndche Brauchtum on hoffentlich „jätt Spass“

Would you like to speak "Bergisch Platt" or at least understand it? If you are interested in our dialect, come to the Kürten History Association's dialect regulars' table. You can hear stories from the past and present and of course tell them yourself. Special terms and phrases are explained and discussed.

The special thing about the Kürten regulars' table: In addition to the "Rhineland" version of Bergisch dialect, you can also hear an "Oberbergisch" touch from some participants. This is expressed, for example, in the "Zick" (Rhenish) and "Ziet" (Oberbergisch) as in the word "Zeit".

The regulars' table takes place

every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m

in the “Zur Post” inn in Biesfeld.

and upcoming topics can be found here.

Depending on the weather, indoors or outdoors.
